Malaysian National Women's Team Players Visit Archway
Archway Academy vs Archway Challengers
Thank you for everyone involved in the match last night between Archway Table Tennis Academy and an Archway Challengers team that we assembled for one night only to create a competitive match experience for all. I am pleased to say that our academy team got the result and were eventual 4-3 winners. However, the win was just a bonus as the purpose of this match was to prepare our players for their future aspirations, competing on one table with viewers in the hall and the expectation of them resting on their shoulders, watching closely and making their own opinions either positive or negative which is normal in the sporting world. The match was also streamed live on Facebook, creating lots of interest in the club and positive remarks about the development of the players.
Ultimately, as coaches, we have leaned more about the players which has made the next steps in their development clear.
Well done to the players, thank you so much Garry, Victor and Adam for a great match and thank you to Diccon, Steve, George and all the academy players for your involvement on the night.
Next week Archway Academy will be competing against Grantham College away. Good luck to Joe Kiloran, Adam Wilson, Joe Cox and Jakub Kurowski.

WELCOME TO SINGAPORE NATIONAL COACH LIU JIAYI
This week Archway welcomed one of the worlds best coaches and I am proud to say, my former coach “Liu Jiayi”. For the last few years, Jiayi was Singapore national women’s coach before earning the right to coach the Singapore Men’s team.
Jiayi played a huge part in the success of our national junior team, leading Paul Drinkhall and Darius Knight to countless European Youth medals as well as leading his team to a World Junior team title.
Thank you for a fantastic few days, we’ve loved having you here and hope you come back soon.

This week we welcomed current Romanian number 4 cadet and national team player Emir Culpedin who competed in our 2nd Archway Invitational tournament last night (05.09.19)The Archway Academy players were very complimentary about his ability and talent and he was a joy to watch. Emir had a good run to the semi finals before losing to the eventual winner Zac Cantor. Emir will be training with our academy next week before returning to Romania.

ARCHWAY INVITATIONAL JULY 2019
Gareth Herbert on Archway Invitational July 2019:
"I wanted to provide an opportunity of high quality matches for the boys, especially at a time when the season is over competitively. Whilst I can see clear improvement with our Academy players, it is always difficult to assess were they are technically and tactically until they are in a match environment, playing at the correct level. There were some great matches on the night that I thoroughly enjoyed watching and I can’t wait for the next Archway Invitational. I am really pleased with the pace of development of all the players and I learned so much more about them from watching their matches last night so I have already started making plans for a programme of development from a technical perspective leading into next season and beyond.
Well done boys, keep working hard and you will achieve your goals."
Winner Israel Awolaja:
“Thoroughly enjoyed my time here, great atmosphere, great players good club. Last minute entry to the Archway invitational and managing to win it beating big Chris who’s 6 in England would be my highlight.”

"Well done to Adam Jepson, Joe Kiloran and Steve Gray who competed well on sunday June 30th in Nottingham. There were some good individual results as well as further development for all of the players.
